CG, that is awesome news! Math was the toughest subject for me too. I don't know if I was "ever" at my grade level in Math. I do ok now, but it was tough in grade school. So glad to hear that your son is right on track. Time to party!

They are doing new stuff already that my son isn't comprehending and I can't help him with. He went to the remedial math teacher and asked him to take him back.
That is so sad.

Actually, I think its awesome that he used his head, recognized he needed help, & went & seeked it out instaed of just muddling through & getting moren & more lost. Shows maturity.

I think that is very mature of him too. Maybe he just doesn't have the confidence yet to go it on his own without the remedial math teacher? I hope the teacher will help him still.

Its not a matter of confidence. Its a matter of comprehending and retaining it. I have the same problems in the same areas which is why I can't help him. He has reached the point where I was struggling to survive myself when I was in school.

CG, I don't think it's a bad thing if he has to get help again either. Some kids, like my daughter for example, won't go on their own to get extra help. I've had to actually email the teacher and let him know she was struggling. I think it's good to get that extra help rather then struggle and pretend everything is fine like my missy does sometimes. Even better, like JJ said that he went on his own and is asking for the help so he can continue to do well and not fall behind. It does seem like they are doing well and then all of a sudden have to take a step back but I think that is okay sometimes. As long as they have our support and confidence in them, they will continue to gain it in themselves. I'm hoping my daughter will get to the point where your son is and go for help herself. I think that is actually a step ahead.
