This is an interview of the father of a child who finally gave up fighting against the cruelty of other children. I am posting the link because it drove home to me how we have to do whatever it takes to help our kids have a healthy self esteem. abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=2443795

Its the video of a man whos son was bullied so bad he killed himself! Disturbing is putting it mildly! Have kleenex handy.
Did you watch the one about the mood enhancing electrode they are implanting in the brain? Interesting.
I have to watch ALL the clips...I'm gonna be here all day..LOL. Thanks for the link!

OMG that is sad watching ..... and it reminds me of many years ago (when my son was around 8) and he was being bullied by a bunch of older girls ... it was horrendous ... Thank GOD it was stopped ....
It is worth noting as well that SAM didn't tell us he was being bullied ... his FRIENDS did ... I understand this is very common that the kid doesn't "say" anything!! ... Once we realised (from his friends) what was going on we (of course) intervened and went straight to the school ... meantime Sam didn't believe that anything could be done about it ... but we proved to him that soimething COULD be done as long as parents/teachers etc. are aware of what is happening. The school then came down VERY heavily on the girls concerned and the bullying was stopped ...

I started to cry. I can so easily see my son in that other child's situation. Our kids want to be liked so much and have so much to give that they really are open to being hurt bad by other kids.
We have to do all we can to make our kids strong enough emotionally to not let the other kids behavior determine their self worth.

For some reason the link is not loading properly on my computer. I must need an upgrade on one of the programs I'll have to look into that when I get a chance. The story is so heartbreaking. It really is a shame how much peer pressure there is today to fit in. My daughter was so nervous before her first Middle School dance. She was in tears because her best friend couldn't go and she had to walk in by herself. Thank goodness she had other friends there and had a really good time, but it made me cry too to see her so nervous and upset about a dance and the fear of being made fun of because she had to walk in alone.
