Well, I read the most amazing email this week! It's from a center administrator who recently started using weighted vests in one of her classrooms at the Success Project in Melbourne Florida. "Our first day back in the classroom after a two week holiday break of learning disabled children are all in your weighted vests with disabilities ranging from autism spectrum disorders to hyperactivity and giftedness, including dyslexia. The children that expected their vests came in and the first thing they did was put on their vests. It seems that the differences in our students' difficulties bring out different benefits with the SensoryCritters.com vests. I love solutions that actually help the brain function better for learning without the risks of medication that often have dangerous side effects. Our vests have given us a healthier solution for our students. Plus they love them. I have heard of them. I have also heard of children, my son included who had heavy sweatshirts or hoodies that they swore made them feel better. Some parents have said their children did better in them.
I will seriously consider getting one of those vests for my son. I have to go to the site first to see if I can afford one! #33biglaugh#

Amazing! I'd be interested to see how this works for Charlie Girl's son. If it works for him maybe we could get one for my granddaughter.

Cynthia, Barb told me to try putting a heavy sweater or even coat on my daughter one day while she does her homework. Its not the same as the weighted vest, but it might give you an indication of whether or not to pursue this avenue.
