You would think it would be a simple request wouldnt you?
Damian will you unstack please.
*hides and sends out miss 5 to tell me he went out with Dad*
Damian I know you are behind the couch - empty it now or I will make you clean the whole kitchen as well.
*walks away to the toilet comes out and stares at TV*
DAmian unstack the dishwasher
*says ok and comes to me saying his is itchy - so I put stop itch cream all over him*
Damian unstack the dishwasher
*asks for food first cause he is too hungry to unstack atm*
Damian unstack the dishwasher then eat afterwards
YEAH HE IS NOW UNSTACKING THE DISWASHER ;D - 15 minutes it took to start after asking him.

Oh my goodness, Rae! This sounds so much like my DD...only we don't have a dishwasher...its:
"Shannon get a shower now"
"Wait a minute, mom, my favorite song is on"
(5 min later) :"Shannon, are you in the shower yet?"
"Oh, no mom, I need a drink first"
Ok...she gets a drink & I send her up to get her shower...its AWFULLY quiet (no water running) so I holler up: " Shannon, WHAT are you doing?!?"
"Huh? Oh. my show is on"
"Get in the Shower NOW!"
(Whining)"But I HAVE to see this show...I have been waiting all week"
At that point I either give in (rarely) or threaten to come unplug the TV & she'll FINALLY get her shower. GRR! Its so infuriating! We go thru the same song & dance about homework, feeding the dogs, cleaning her room, etc.

I thought it was normal, but I sure get tired of it. It takes everybit of patience I have. I remember my mother saying the same thing as I was ADHD too. #5jumping4#

If it's not to late-DON'T GET KIDS GAMEBOYS ! Why you ask-and I'm glad you did, 'cause then they NEVER will get off of it to do anything you tell/ask them. It's always, "I can't save this game, so I have to finish it". Ya, right ! Wonky Electronic Devices ! Seperating us from our children and our natural role as Parents/RoleModels/Suporvisor/Leaders/Helpers and all Around Good Guys !

Same thing here, only now we have graduated to PS2 and computer games. Its strange how none of those games can be saved when we need them, but if something they want to do comes up, that baby goes off fast!

BarB-That sounds almost like what I said to DW[she's a DietCokeAddict], anywho . . .after stocking the frige with the umteenth bottle of d.c., I said, 'would'it be great if their was a d.c. delivery, that would bring it right to your house, just like they used to deliver milk to your door". ZAP! She says "I do, it's you!" LOL !

oh well the OP of this thread was 13 Dec 2005 - nothing much has changed - except the dishwasher broke down 2 months ago lol... now I am chasing his tail to do the washing up.. I bet its easier to catch his tail than to get him to do the washing up.

Oh no! I deleted Rae's post. Fortunately I quoted it first but I thought I had posted twice and deleted my first one, when I actually deleted hers.
Sorry Rae!

I must confess too that for some strange reason I hate to unload the DW. Loading is no problem, but my H has to bug me a few times before I get the DW unloaded. Misty, Becca does the same thing to me with the shower. The whole scenario is exactly the same. Other distractions are the computer or Nintendo. CG, I have literally unplugged the Nintendo and you know how well that goes over when they "haven't saved". I give her 15 minutes and after that I'm pulling plugs or flipping switches.

We don't have a dishwasher & I don't mind washing dishes so its not a huge issue here. I do insist that people rinse their plates if they eat at an odd time, so the dishes arent hard to wash when I get to them. Shannons been way better about the shower lately, but shes taken to using her dads body wash. She said she loves the smell & I can't get it through her head that its a MANLY smell & not what young LADIES should smell like! Well, at least shes clean I guess. The computers the big issue these days. She gets an hour after school. I even give her 15, 10, & 5 minute warnings as the end of the hour draws near & I STILL have trouble getting her off of it. But she has no choice, she has other things she has to do. Oh & she'll use ALL the ink & paper printing pictures of Taylor Hicks, Kenny Chesney, & Big & Rich if I'm not watching carefully!

One of Tiff's chores is supposed to be loading and then unloading the dishwasher. Ok, now, it is only dinner dishes and takes us 3-4 days to fill up the dishwasher, so it shouldn't be that big a deal. Well you'd think I was asking her to do hard time. So she hasn't been doing it and loosing that part of her alllowance for it.
She hates bathing too. It takes so long to aruge with her and get her in that she could have taken 2-3 showers.
She doesn't play the video games too much and she hadn't expressed too much interest in the computer yet, to those aren't issues for us at this time.

Jonathan thinks dishes are women's work. Where he gets it from is the question since his father will wash dishes if I can't get at them. I don't like the way he does them, but he at least tries.
As for baths, I can't wait for Jon to discover girls so he wants to be clean. I don't want him to get serious, but I want to have him bathe regularly without me having to threaten to swish him around the tub like it was a washing machine.

without me having to threaten to swish him around the tub like it was a washing machine. Isn't that the truth. I just call her pig pen and that works to get her in.

Hey Laura!
How's it going? I remember you from the other Adhd message board. Nice to see you here too. I think it's about time my daughter starts helping out a little more and I think it might just be with the DW. LOL I know what you mean about getting them in the shower and not being able to get them out. After I've bugged my daughter to get her butt in there, she takes the longest showers in history. I've started timing her because our water bill is going to be the highest in history if she keeps that up. LOL Dee
