The National Education Association has published a booklet for educators to explain autism and give tips on autism in the classroom. It's an excellent booklet that you may want to print out for teachers and paraprofessionals. the file is in PDF format and you must have Adobe Acrobat to download it. www.nea.org/specialed/images/autismpuzzle.pdf

Misty, You have no idea how much I'd love to send that to my niece. (For those who don't know...my neice has two sons..one I am certain is Aspergers and the other is too young to know for sure but probably is autistic. Our family has been told they don't want to hear any such thing about their sons and I have to respect that.) But since my niece homeschools her kids I would think it would give her some great tips on teaching her boys. I'm tempted to send it annomously but then it would have a post office stamp and that would give it away as to who sent it. Besides that would be mean and underhanded. But still......

Wow! That is a lot of info! Its a must have for anyone with an autistic child or anyone who deals with autism at all.
It helped me understand it better and I didn't even get very far into it. It is going to take a while to get through it.

Misty.....don't tempt me like that! LOL Actually, I don't know if I could do that. On one hand she is doing really a very good job with her boys and maybe she really does "know" but doesn't want anyone to label her boys. But I've talked about this before.....and even my nieces own mother (my sis) dare not bring it up. It is rather frustrating because we as her family would like to help her when we find something so informative as what you just posted.

Misty,
I'm going to forward the link to my girlfriend who has an autistic son. I'm sure it will be of help to her. Thanks so much for the info. JJ, hope you are able to find a way to help your niece out.
