The name sundew refers to the sparkling drops at the tip of each leaf that looks like the drops of morning dew. Sundews come in all different shapes and sizes, there are over 170 types. It can be found all over the world, but mostly grow in wet areas. The sundew plant is a meat eating plant. It is like a sticky fly paper trap. It has sticky glands covering their leaf surface, it uses the sticky glands to capture and digest insects. The insects are used for minerals that they can not get from the soil they grow in.
Does this sound ok? I read her the info and she wrote what she got out of it. She substatuted the big word with words she understood it was about. The report is for 3 grades and I just want her to do good. This is her first report.

It sounds good to me. Is it supposed to be only one paragraph? If so, then its good. She put all the info in & it sounds like she un derstood it.

it didn't say how long it has to be but honestly If I was writting the report on it, ther really isn't much to say about this plant.

I think its great for a 3rd grader's first report. She got the info she needed in it.
She is writing in complete sentences and imparting the info in an easy to understand manner. I think that is probably the main point of this report, this early on.
Once that is understood and mastered, they will probably begin to create paragraphs and form multiple paragraph reports.

That might be true....every school is different. I only asked because by 2nd grade my daughter was expected to write reports that were several pages long, complete with picures, graphs, etc. Matter of fact, I came back to this thread to suggest that maybe she print out a couple pictures that she could glue on & label. It would lengthen the report without the need to dig up more facts. I agree though that the sentences are well written for her age level.

Remember she was in private school then. My son started the reports in 3rd grade and I'm sure I remember it being a paragraph or a few sentences to start with.
I can't imagine expecting a 7 yr old to write a report several pages long.
