RTI or Response to Intervention is an approach to identifying students at risk for learning disabilities which has been used successfully in states and school districts nationwide. The National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) held a teleconference on Response to Intervention (RTI) and they have graciouosly posted the transcript online so that we can all learn more about this new development. www.ncld.org/content/view/930/I just finished reading it & its VERY interesting! Edited to fix a typo

I love RTI! A child doesn't have to be diagnosed with a disability to get an IEP and the help he needs. It means he doesn't need a label before he gets help. It cuts down on time between suspecting a disability and being able to do something about it, often preventing a serious slide that requires an IEP.
My school hired someone to implement an RTI program in our school and she told me at the end of the year, not one teacher was willing to work with her on it. She is gone and I haven't heard anything about it since. Its something we parents need to know is available and to push for it.

I finally had time to read the article without a million distractions. It explains the way RTI is most commonly implemented. I never knew just how they did it so I found it very informative.
