Hi. My daughter isn't on meds, but I can understand how scared you must be. I think if it were me, I'd take my kid off the meds until I knew for sure what is going on. I don't think "wait & see" is a very acceptable answer from that Dr. I hope someone whos child takes meds can chime in with better advice, but just wanted to add my 2 cents in.

Cols, My son is 6 and he's not on any meds BECAUSE of heart problems. At his kindergarten physical his Dr. found a noise she wanted us to check out further. Turned out he had a PDA(patent ductus arteriosus) and had to have surgery to repair it. No one had ever said anything about a "noise" before. He saw the same Dr. his whole life and she just happened to be new to the practice and saw him that day. I would stop meds as Misty said -we planned on starting him on meds before all this but now we are not going to.

I would stop the meds. My nephew was on stims when he was younger and developed a noise. They did an echogram of his heart and he has what has turned out to be a genetic defect which doesn't show up in an ekg.
My uncle is in his 70s and has the same problem. It never gave him any trouble until a few years ago but now he is officially disabled from it. The stims could have made my nephew very ill if they hadn't noticed a problem and gotten an echocardiogram very early on.
I will not ever put my child on stims until they do an ekg and an echo. In your shoes, my kid would be off them so fast your head would spin.
Hopefully the dr is right and its really nothing but I wouldn't take the chance until I knew for sure.
